Subcutaneous fat is a jiggly fat that is invincible just under the skin. Subcutaneous fats is harmless in nature and can even protect you against some disease.

People have have a greater and larger amount of Subcutaneous fat they do all these.

WHY DOES SUBCUTANEOUS FAT EXIST?

The middle layer of your skin is called the “dermis” while the top layer is called “epidermis”. The deepest layer of the skin is the Subcutaneous fat.

WHAT ARE THE  FUNCTION OF SUBCUTANEOUS FAT?

There are basically 5 functions of Subcutaneous fat 

  • It helps your body to regulate It temperature.
  • It serves as a path for blood vessels and nerves between your skin and your muscles.
  • It is one of the ways energy is stored in the body.
  • It helps to protect your muscles and bones from the impact of falls and hits.
  • It stick the dermis to the bones with a connecting tissues.

Normally Subcutaneous fat is a very important part of your body. But it becomes dangerous when the body hast stored to much, it may cause health problems like

  • Stroke
  • Sleep apnea
  • Kidney disease
  • Heart disease
  • Fatty liver disease
  • A particular type of cancer.

HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE TOO MUCH SUBCUTANEOUS FAT STORED IN YOUR BODY?

One of the ways to determine if you are overweighted is to measure your (BMI) BODY MASS INDEX

  • Normal weight BMI of 18.5 to 24.9
  • Overweight BMI of 25 to 29.99
  • Obesity BMI of 30 or higher

Measuring your waist size is another way that you can determine if you have excess Subcutaneous fat.

DIET

To Consume fewer calories is the basic way to get rid of Subcutaneous fat.

American college of cardiology recommend a healthy diet that includes fiber, nuts, fruits and vegetables.

It should contain lean protein like (fish and soy) and it should also be low in red meat, sait and suger.

EXERCISE

To burn Subcutaneous fat it is required of you to burn energy in form of calories. You can do Exercise like (HIIT) high intensity interval training, cardio, aerobics and strength training.
